Unique & Peculiar-Looking Floor Lamp Is Inspired By The Designer’s Memories Of Chemistry Labs

Gone are the days when lighting designs were boring and typically designed objects that did nothing but add light to a living space. A well-designed lighting fixture should not only have the ability to illuminate any living space but also add that extra oomph factor! I mean, of course, we need them to see in the dark, but as highly functional as they should be, a lighting fixture also needs to be aesthetically pleasing, adding an attractive and visually soothing element to your home or office space. And, one such unique lighting design I came across is the Emotional Lab Light.

Designer: Hania Jneid

Dubbed the Emotional Lab Light, this unique and ethereal-looking lighting design was created by interior designer Hania Jneid. Jneid was inspired by chemistry sets, and she drew influence from them to create her eclectic and elaborate floor lamp. The Emotional Lab floor lamp includes a tall and slender metal lamp that provides support to multiple beaker-like glass vessels that illuminate any space they’re placed into with a warm and inviting flow.

The lighting radiated by the glass vessels is ambient and seductive. You can also consider optional metal modules which include a vase and a small storage unit, which in turn provide a material contrast and impart depth and a sense of narrative to the elegant piece. The design was influenced by Jneid’s childhood memories of chemistry labs, and that can be seen in the unique form and design of the piece. She produced the Emotional Lab light through her own studio.

“I am intrigued by the playfulness and underlying interactions between the different elements of the lab system,” said Jneid. “This is translated in the user’s ability to configure different compositions in order to reach a new aesthetic, simulating a new chemical reaction.” The Emotional Lab Light is a part of the Emotional Lab series which also includes a modular storage system. The collection is handcrafted by artisans in Spain, Italy, and Lebanon. The lamp is available in material options of anodized aluminum, brass, or stainless steel with multiple marbles to select from for the base.

From a ghost-like chandelier to sleek lighting designs that incorporate wireless charging trays– these unique lighting designs are what you need to elevate your living or working space!

1. The Sunne Light

This extraordinary self-powered solar light is called the Sunne light, and it harvests sunlight during the day to light up your home at night. The unique sunlight-mimicking lamp collects solar energy and powers itself using the same energy!

Why is it noteworthy?

The Sunne light has been equipped with photovoltaic cells and is meant to be hung in front of a window. The suspended lighting fixture collects solar energy through the entirety of the day, and at night it utilizes this energy to illuminate your home. It features an integrated battery that stores the solar energy it collects and hence eliminates any reliance on an external or additional power source.

What we like

 • Collects solar energy and powers itself using the same energy
 • The lamp remains suspended in the air, so doesn’t occupy space

What we dislike

 • Heavy price tag
 • Since the lamp is suspended, it could be difficult to clean and maintain

2. The Ghost Chandelier

Designed by 101 Copenhagen, the Ghost Chandelier is ghostly, ghoulish, and yet insanely graceful. There is something simply so alluring about the lighting design, that you can’t help but be mesmerized by it.

Why is it noteworthy?

Created by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl of NORR11 for the Danish design studio, the artistic lighting design intends to cast a myriad range of shapes and patterns in your home. The stunning piece is inspired by minimalist art.

What we like

 • Looks different from different angles and viewpoints
 • Creates a seductive and moody ambiance

What we dislike

 • Looks difficult to clean and maintain

3. The Current Task Light

Designed by UK-based Jones and Partners, the Current Task Light is yet another addition to the studio’s portfolio of simple, minimalist, and highly functional products.

Why is it noteworthy?

The award-winning task lighting + charging concept is a multifunctional product to aid in your daily multitasking and is perfectly complementary to both residential and commercial spaces.

What we like

 • Allows coworkers to plug their devices across a large desk while working together

What we dislike

 • It’s a concept right now, so we don’t know how the final product will turn out

4. Ichi Portable Table Lamp

The minimalist Ichi portable table lamp is a mushroom-inspired marvel that can transform your surroundings with its soft and warm glow. It can grace any space with a touch of elegance.

Why is it noteworthy?

Running on simple AA batteries, its modular design promises not just convenience but also atmospheric enhancement wherever you decide to place it. Equipped with six high-color rendering LEDs, it bathes your space in a soothing luminescence, effortlessly turning any spot into a sanctuary of calm.

What we like

 • 4 brightness level
 • Easy to disassemble and store in a bag

What we dislike

 • Uses four AA batteries
 • Is not water-resistant

5. The Hexa Light

The Hexa Light is designed to be a ‘horizontal chandelier’ that can be attached to your ceiling like a 2D fixture rather than a 3D one. It illuminates a place very well, while also transforming your ceiling into a canvas for its unique patterns.

Why is it noteworthy?

The inspiration behind Hexa Light traces its roots to traditional Iranian architectural decorations. The design’s geometric pattern, reminiscent of “Girih” and “miniature” motifs, showcases intricate interlaced strapwork patterns.

What we like

 • A unique and mesmerizing blend of cultural iconography and modern technology

What we dislike

 • Space-consuming design not intended for smaller homes

6. Noctiluca Light

The Noctiluca Light is a brilliant arrangement of textured glass discs in the shape of a circle. Created by Australian brand Ross Gardam, the statement suspended lamp is made up of “an endless undulating spiral” of 32 of the brand’s own Ceto lights.

Why is it noteworthy?

Each element of the lighting fixture has a translucent and other-worldly appeal to it which in turn creates an ethereal mass effect that puts you under a spell! Each Noctiluca light is hand-assembled in Ross Gardam’s Melbourne studio.

What we like

 • Translucent and other-worldly appeal
 • Hand-assembled, giving the fixture a defined and concise appearance

What we dislike

 • It is a delicate piece, so proper care and precaution must be taken while cleaning it

7. The Matin Lamp

Designed by Inga Hempe, the Matin Lamp is a contemporary and modern interpretation of a common lighting fixture that uses a steel wire frame to condense the form to its most basic.

Why is it noteworthy?

Its unique pleated lampshade gives a distinctive character to the product, creating a play of shapes and shadows that contrast with its plain block of color.

What we like

 • The lamp is a harmonious contrast of order and chaos with repeating patterns of flowers, petals, and leaves

What we dislike

 • The lamp may be too quirky and eclectic for some

8. Nebula Desk Lamp

The Nebula Desk Lamp was designed by COG Design Studio in partnership with the lighting brand Bonakia by building a basic yet defined form of lighting via repetition, transformation, and an innovative combination of distinctive geometric shapes.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Nebula Desk Lamp was designed by giving a subtle and formative beauty to flat shapes using three-dimensional changes in direction and bending. This creates a refreshed and interesting form for a lighting design, by simply playing around with various geometric figures, and imparting them with an emotional aesthetic.

What we like

 • The innovative design gives the impression of a nebula in space, which lends the design its name

What we dislike

 • There is no option to change/customize the design as needed

9. Echo Desk Lamp

Designed by Simon Busse for the German brand Caussa, the Echo desk lamp draws inspiration from the shape of a tuning fork, and features a rounded LED light source that rotates at 360-degree angles to produce a whole range of lighting options.

Why is it noteworthy?

The head of the lamp can be adjusted along a two-pronged stand, allowing you to change the height of the lamp. The two-pronged stand of the lamp is quite interestingly shaped like a tuning fork.

What we like

 • Equipped with a hidden gesture control to allow users to turn the lamp on and off and dim the light using a simple hand movement

What we dislike

 • Will occupy a substantial amount of space on your desk

10. The Carousel Series

Created by Pablo Designs, the Carousel series is the perfect culmination of ambiance, aesthetics, and utility. It includes two designs – a table lamp, and a floor lamp.

Why is it noteworthy?

Both lamps incorporate wireless charging mobile trays in their form while emitting a warm, glare-free light. The charging tray is equipped with two wireless charging zones, and a USB-C charging port, to support a variety of devices.

What we like

 • The base of the lamp is a transparent fluted acrylic cylinder diffuser that emits indirect lighting via a hidden flat panel LED control with full dimming capabilities

What we dislike

 • Since the wireless charging trays are exposed they could be easily damaged or scratched

Created by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl of NORR11 for the Danish design studio, the artistic lighting design intends to cast a myriad range of shapes and patterns in your home. The stunning piece is inspired by minimalist art.

The lighting fixture includes a white acrylic tube that features an organic and fascinating shape, which was based on a sketch by hand. What’s truly intriguing about the Ghost Chandelier is that it looks different from different angles and viewpoints! It’s an ever-changing design that features a built-in LED light source. The lighting casts an illumination that is warm and subtle, building a seductive and moody ambiance.

The Ghost is lined with bronze metal fittings that add an element of intricate and elegant detailing. It elevates the minimal design, without being too overbearing. It also includes four stainless steel wires that enable the pendant to be adjusted to the perfect height, which allows it to be viewed from its underbelly, creating the most dynamic and dramatic effect. If you’re seeking a simple yet loud lighting piece, then the Ghost Chandelier is for you. It is modern, contemporary, and chique without overdoing it. It is available in large and small sizes, so you can pick the variation that perfectly fits your living space, or have one specifically tailored to it.

Bright, colorful, durable, and versatile, the high-quality Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights make sure you never have to buy and put up Christmas lights over and over again.

Christmas in Summer? Sure, why not? Especially if you can beat the summer heat and hold a raving ‘outdoor party at night. You’ll need to set the right atmosphere, though, to help your guests forget about the sweltering temperatures. And what better way is there to set a festive mood than with brilliant lights that dance to the music? Of course, those same outdoor lights could provide not only decoration but also safety at night, any time of the year. That’s the proposition that the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights is making, replacing your Christmas lights and staying beyond the winter holidays to be used all year round. These aren’t the first outdoor fairy lights in the market, though, so we took these unique-looking LED lights outdoors, hooked them up, and lit up the house to see if it can rise to the challenge and stand proud apart from the crowd.

Designer: Govee

Aesthetics

You’ve probably seen your fair share of outdoor lights, fairy or otherwise, but if you haven’t, suffice it to say that the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights are nowhere near what you’d expect. Instead of bulbs sticking out of a strand of cable, you get LEDs enclosed in 3cm squares with a small clear dome covering the LED itself. Each square is set about a foot apart from each other on the flat cable, forming 6 segments that total a 100ft (50m) long string of light of lights that offers some flexibility in how you install them (more on that later). What all these mean is that the lights are designed to be minimalist and almost invisible, getting out of the way to let the lights take center stage.

Those lights definitely deserve all the attention because of their impressive output. Thanks to Govee’s RGBIC technology, each light is capable of showing any color within a range of 16 million. Of course, you won’t be looking at each LED on its own, and its real appeal comes through the combination of those lights, whether as a single stream of color or in a kaleidoscopic display. At 26 lumens per LED, the Outdoor Lights will definitely be an attention grabber, no matter what color you choose. That might also be a consideration you have to take in mind if there are related regulations about night lights in your area.

All-in-all, the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights delivers a stunning visual, regardless of the holiday or occasion. They’re pretty much like super-powered Christmas lights you don’t have to take down and can use all throughout the year. You can even dim the lights a bit and use a solid swath of color to illuminate your house without making it look like you’re having a party every night. Thanks to its simple and minimalist design, there are no bulbs that stick out from roofs and eaves to steal the show. These outdoor lights are an effective and cost-effective way to make your house pop, any time of the year.

Ergonomics (Installation)

You won’t be handling these outdoor lights all the time, fortunately, but you will have to wrestle with them at least once when you install them on your house. Because they are meant to stay in their place, hence the “permanent” part of their name, you do have to take some time to properly plan out where you’ll be placing them. Fortunately, Govee is making it easy to install these strands of light, giving you plenty of flexibility to run the lights even along areas where you might not want to have any light at all.

That’s because the 100ft (30m) string of LEDs is actually divided into 6 strands, each with clearly-marked waterproof connectors so you can easily tell which end connects to which. There are also extension cables included in the box, in case you need to run the lights down from roof to wall but want to leave gaps in the lighting in those transitional areas. This also means you don’t have to force yourself to use all six segments if you don’t need to. Conversely, you can also extend the length with another 100ft set or the 3-segment 50ft (30m) set that Govee also sells.

Once all the planning is done, installing the lights is relatively painless, though still needs a bit of work to pull off. Each light square has a 3M adhesive that lets you easily stick them to any flat surface outside your house. There are also clips you can use to keep wayward clips in line. Once all the lights have been installed, the last bit is connecting the control box and the power box to finally light up your house. Connecting the lights to the Govee mobile app is just as painless and you’ll be off playing with the settings and features in no time.

Performance

The Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights are definitely one of those things that you have to see to truly appreciate their value. The bright lights can effectively illuminate your house, adding not only flavor but also safety at night. The lights might actually be too bright, so you might want to put on covers or blinds on windows if the lights are anywhere near them.

These Outdoor Lights are also smart lights, which means they’re meant to be controlled through a connected smartphone or via some smart assistants, particularly Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is where the lights really shine, pardon the pun, thanks to the countless ways you can change the way they look or behave. In fact, the sheer number of options available on the app might be overwhelming and confusing for new users. Fortunately, there are also plenty of presets available, including over 70 scenes that let you set the right mood for given occasions.

While there are plenty of ways to configure the Govee Outdoor Lights, one of the most interesting and most dramatic is the Music Mode, where the lights react to the music and sound it hears either through the phone or its control box, making them dance to the beat. Even better, you can harmonize multiple Govee products through DreamView mode to create a captivating synchronized Light Show. And when the party’s done, you can just ask Alexa or Google Assistant to turn the lights into a more peaceful hue to call it a night.

Due to its rather unique enclosure design, the light that the LEDs project has a rather distinctive triangular shape that’s even more visible if the lights are placed close to a wall. Unlike most fairy or string lights that wash the surroundings with a more or less even diffusion, the lights coming from the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights look more like mini spotlights with a wide-angle spread. It creates a rather unique visual effect, like sharp ridges or stairs, it’s an aesthetic that won’t appeal to everybody. That could be a deal-breaking design that potential buyers will have to consider before making this rather substantial purchase.

Sustainability

Like many outdoor lights, the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights make use of plenty of plastic and some rubber, not exactly the most environment-friendly materials. Given design and production requirements, however, this is hardly surprising, but it’s definitely a big opportunity for Govee to further take the lead in the smart lighting market. Imagine a brand that not only delivers powerful smart lighting but sustainable products as well. That could be Govee a few years down the line!

The company does make up for it by making sure that its products don’t meet their untimely demise quickly. In other words, Govee lights are built to last, and these Outdoor Lights are no different. In fact, they’re even better, boasting an IP67 dust and water resistance rating that makes them ideal for use even in inclement weather. Even the control box and adapter are IP65 rated, truly marking them safe for outdoor use. As for the LEDs themselves, they’re advertised with a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours, around 5 years if you use them 24/7 (which you won’t anyway). Govee makes these affirmations regarding the durability of the RGBIC Permanent Outdoor Lights:

 • Successful operation test at 140 ℉
 • Successful operation test at -40 ℉
 • Passed operation test at a water depth of 49ft
 • Withstood a tensile force of 11.02lb
 • Endured manual pulling of over 10 pounds

Value

It’s easy to do a double-take when you see the $299.99 price tag attached to these lights, but it’s a first impression that won’t last long. Yes, it is a bit steep and pricier than other outdoor fairy lights, but few or none of those can even offer half of what Govee delivers. Some, for example, won’t even last more than two seasons of limited use during holidays only, let alone regular use both on or off-season. Few can also offer a quick and easy method of installing lights that you’ll leave in place until they die many years later. You don’t have to dread removing the lights after the festivities and can just leave them there for the next occasion or as regular night lights for the house.

The Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights also offer a level of control and customization you might only find in more expensive brands. There is, in fact, an overwhelming number of settings you can tweak to your heart’s content, making these outdoor lights not only beautiful but also versatile. Given all that, the $299.99 figure doesn’t look bad at all, especially when you consider that it’s a longer-term investment that will last you for years compared to cheaper lights where you truly get what you pay for.

Verdict

Summer isn’t just about beaches and camping (or glamping). Night pool parties and quiet times out on the porch are also common activities during this season, both of which require the right lights to set the right mood. You could get different lights for different occasions, or you could get the Govee RGBIC Permanent Outdoor Lights and have a versatile outdoor lighting solution for any occasion.

With a modular design and easy installation process, these Govee outdoor lights offer more flexibility in where and how you want to put them up. The bright and vibrant colors of the LEDs help create the atmosphere that you want, while the powerful mobile app put an almost endless array of options at your fingertips. Whether it’s a holiday, a seasonal party, or just a dark night, the Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights will make your house stand out and make you the talk of the town.

Razer Aether Lights brighten up your gaming den with RGB lights that sync with your mood

]]>

Gamers, especially PC gamers, are stereotyped to be creatures that dwell in the dark. That’s true to some extent, but not because of anti-social behavior. Lights and colors shine brighter in the dark, just like in cinemas, and gaming rigs are full of these effects, both on the monitor as well as gaming accessories. Razer, one of the world’s biggest gaming product manufacturers, has been capitalizing on that gamer aesthetic for years. Now it is bringing that fondness for colorful lights from your desk to the rest of your room, bathing the entire area with hues that can dance to your tunes, pulse to your games, or just match the mood you want to have for work and relaxation.

Designer: Razer

Gamer aesthetics have always been associated with RGB lighting against dark backgrounds or spaces, a signature design that has been making its way from gaming devices to smartphones to TVs to even apparel. There’s just something enchanting seeing a rainbow of colors glowing in the dark, especially when they sync with and complement whatever content you have running, whether it’s a game or a film. In fact, there are products that are now trying to bring this kind of experience to more “normal” use cases with light strips, lamps, and even curtain lights.

The new Razer Aether line of RGB lighting is the brand’s own attempt at cornering this growing market, enticing gamers to level up not just their PCs but their entire battle stations with a selection of products that can brighten up the whole room the way they want to. You have the usual culprits, like now popular LED strips in the form of the Razer Aether Light Strip, as well as a color-changing Razer Aether Light Bulb that can be screwed inside any standard E26 or E27 fixture.

Somewhat new to the eyes are two identical-looking but very different table lamps, both taking on a cylindrical form not unlike typical smart speakers. The Razer Aether Lamp glows with a single color at a time, creating pleasing omnidirectional lighting for any space and occasion. The Razer Aether Lamp Pro, on the other hand, takes this to the next level with multi-zone RGB lighting that can display different colors all at the same time, creating a unique visual experience you might have never seen in any lamp before.

Like any Razer product with the company’s Chroma RGB lighting technology, these lamps can be controlled through a PC or, coming soon, mobile apps. This will allow owners not only to customize the lights’ colors and brightness but also their schedules and syncing with games, music, and videos. And while these products are primarily targeted at gamers and for entertainment scenarios, they can definitely be used like regular lamps and lights, extending their usefulness to every part of a gamer’s life.

Chandeliers were originally designed as symbols of sheer opulence. Made to hold multiple candles in a grandiose way hanging from a high ceiling to illuminate a large hall. The candles were replaced with bulbs but the grandiosity only increased as chandeliers could now use crystals and other ornamental materials. The point is, chandeliers were inherently designed to be vertical, hanging from high ceilings. The Hexa Light challenges that notion with a ‘horizontal’ chandelier design that occupies the area of your ceiling like a 2D fixture rather than a 3D one. The result is two-fold – firstly, wider coverage of light, allowing the Hexa to illuminate a place more effectively, and secondly, a beautiful 2D light fixture that turns your ceiling into a canvas for its unique patterns.

Designer: Sepehr Mehrdadfar

The inspiration behind Hexa Light traces its roots to traditional Iranian architectural decorations. The design’s geometric pattern, reminiscent of “Girih” and “miniature” motifs, showcases intricate interlaced strapwork patterns. The result? A captivating blend of cultural iconography and modern technology.

Split into multiple individual modules, the Hexa Light achieves a dual purpose by offering broad and localized lighting modes. Its modular design, resembling a third of a hexagon, enables endless compositional possibilities, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality. It forms a mesmerizing geometric network when its modules coexist, providing ambient lighting and adding a decorative touch to any space. Moreover, its unique linear module design leaves empty spaces between lights, preserving the ceiling cover while illuminating the room.

Crafted from extruded aluminum profiles, each module houses energy-efficient LEDs and is adorned with Plexiglas diffusers. The clever integration of magnets and a fixture for electric wires ensures a seamless and flexible lighting solution. Although better appreciated as a hanging light-piece (above), the Hexa can also be built into a faux ceiling (shown below) for a more integrated design.

The Hexa Light is a Silver Winner of the A’ Design Award for the year 2023.

Gone are the days when lighting designs were boring and typically designed objects that did nothing but add light to a living space. A well-designed lighting design should not only have the ability to illuminate any living space but also add that extra oomph factor! I mean, of course, we need them to see in the dark, but as highly functional as they should be, a lighting design also needs to be aesthetically pleasing, adding an attractive and visually soothing element to your home. The Mantle Table Lamp by Tala is a unique and thoughtfully designed lighting product meant to elevate your boring old dining table.

Designer: Tala

Designed by British lighting brand Tala, the Mantle Table Lamp has a unique shape and lovely speckled finish that brings to mind enamelware and stone. The lamp is designed to add character and personality to your unchanging dining table. It is meant to mimic the look and ambiance of candlelight in intimate dining environments. It features a funnel-shaped bulb that is linked to a tapered base, which casts an even and clear light onto the tabletop.

The tapered base of the lamp is made from powder-coated stainless steel and has a hand-applied speckle effect in three different colors – granite black, stone white, and cobalt blue. The stainless steel has been pressed flat on one end to form a handle, this makes the lamp easy to move from one place to another. It also forms a delicate crevice that conceals the USB-C charging port and dimmer button.

The Mantle Table Lamp is an excellent option for both the indoors and outdoors. Since it has a compact and portable size, as well as a battery power source, you can carry it outdoors with ease. All the components of the lamp such as the bulb, battery, and internal circuitry can be easily replaced when needed. It is a slender and stylish lamp that is ideal for “making every stage a table”, and facilitating an easy and effortless conversation. So next time you’re planning to have a romantic candlelight dinner with your partner, eliminate the candle, and instead opt for the Mantle Table Lamp!

If you work in a commercial office or are still sticking to the work-from-home culture, in both these scenarios you will need a desk. But simply having a desk isn’t the endgame, it’s about creating a desk setup that holds a limited but quality number of products that help you achieve your day-to-day tasks. The desk accessories you place on your desk are an integral part of your home/corporate office. Not only will this improve your work routine and productivity, but it will also help you maintain a clearer and more streamlined mindset. And a smart, functional, and well-designed accessory that would be a brilliant addition to your workdesk is the Current Task Light.

Designer: Jones & Partners

Designed by UK-based Jones and Partners, the Current Task Light is yet another addition to the studio’s portfolio of simple, minimalist, and highly functional products. The award-winning task lighting + charging concept is a multifunctional product to aid in your daily multitasking and is perfectly complementary to both residential and commercial spaces. Jones and Partners wanted to create a thoughtful and well-designed solution that would allow coworkers to plug their devices across a large desk while working together. And, they created the Current Task Light – a modular and minimal task light that not only provides illumination but also doubles up as a storage space for stationery, wireless, and USB port charging.

The task light is created in two versions – first a simple task lamp with a wireless charging surface located on the left side of the lamp’s base. The charging surface is perfectly integrated with the lamp. The second variant is quite similar to an iceberg, with a certain section of the lamp base being concealed under the tabletop. The section on the desk neatly hides a larger plug-in unit, which allows both the charging modules to be interchanged when needed.

The Current Task Light is a compact and space-saving design that will occupy minimum space on your desk. The components of the lamp including the slender base and LED shade are quite delicate and won’t need much space. Currently, the task light is a concept, but we’re hoping to see it as a real tangible design very soon.

From a stunning Brutalist-inspired tabletop lamp to sleek lighting designs that incorporate wireless charging trays– these unique lighting designs are what you need to elevate your living or working space!

1. The Sunne Light

The Sunne light is an extraordinary self-powered solar light that harvests sunlight during the day to light up your home once the night falls. Created by Dutch lighting brand Sunne in partnership with designer Marjan van Aubel, the sunlight-mimicking lamp collects solar energy and then proceeds to power itself using the same energy.

 • Collects solar energy and powers itself with the same energy
 • The lamp remains suspended in the air, so doesn’t occupy space

What we dislike

 • Hefty price tag
 • Since the lamp is suspended, it could be difficult to clean and maintain

2. The Ichi Portable Lamp

In a world overwhelmed by glaring screens and harsh lighting, the minimalist Ichi portable table lamp emerges as a beacon of tranquility, ready to grace any space with a touch of elegance. Taking a cue from nature, it’s a mushroom-inspired marvel that promises to transform your surroundings with its soft, warm glow. Click Here to Buy Now: $149.

Why is it noteworthy?

Running on simple AA batteries, its modular design promises not just convenience but also an atmospheric enhancement wherever you decide to place it. Equipped with six high color rendering LEDs, it bathes your space in a soothing luminescence, effortlessly turning any spot into a sanctuary of calm.

What we like

 • 4 brightness level
 • Easy to disassemble and store in a bag

What we dislike

 • Uses four AA batteries
 • Is not water-resistant

3. The Noctiluca Light

4. The Nebula Desk Lamp

7. Stella

Created to be a part of the 2023 New Collection lighting products by COG Design Studio x Bonakia, Stella is an ethereal-looking lighting design created through a mix of repetition, transformation, and geometric shapes.

Why is it noteworthy?

It features an interesting triangular intaglio shape and is built using acrylic material. The goal behind the design was to observe the sensibility of light when it is transmitted to a detailed intaglio pattern.

What we like

 • Emits an ambient and seductive light
 • Easy to carry and portable design

What we dislike

 • Seems a little fragile, so you may have to be careful while carrying it around, as it could easily slip and break
 • Sufficient care should be taken while cleaning and maintaining the lamp

8. The Vestige Lamp

The Vestige lamp is heavily inspired by Brutalist design, and this is truly reflected in the blocky geometric shapes that make up the lamp. The various shapes were crafted from cast crystal glass.

Why is it noteworthy?

The Vestige lamp features a simple silhouette that has been created from an upright rectangular block that has been merged with a hemispherical shape, which brings to mind the image of Brutalist architecture. Bubbles in the glass provide a speckled texture when illuminated – this is an attempt to celebrate the lamp’s unique materiality.

What we like

 • Brutalist-inspired aesthetics

What we dislike

 • Seems difficult to clean and maintain

9. Bonsai Desk Lamp

Dubbed the Bonsai Desk Lamp, this interesting-looking lamp is quite similar to a bonsai tree in aspect of its shape. Of course, it isn’t a total replacement for the real plant, but it can be considered a fun and innovative alternative when you’re not ready to look after the real deal.

Why is it noteworthy?

It may not look like a real bonsai tree with multiple branches, but it could still call to mind those lush, green plants that our brains immediately associate with a state of Zen.

What we like

 • Fun and functional alternative to a real plant

What we dislike

 • It seems visually unbalanced, with the lampshade carrying the visual weight of the object

10. Lightbone Floor Lamp

The Lightbone Floor Lamp isn’t the kind of lighting fixture you come across every day. It was inspired by a bamboo forest on a trip to Japan, and it features a unique focal point – the connection point between the spherical glass globes and the wooden sections, which also gave birth to the name of the lamp.

Why is it noteworthy?

You can place the lamp next to your sofa, or place multiple Lightbone Floor Lamps to create a cluster of lamps that look like a miniature and imitation Japanese bamboo forest.

What we like

 • Is available in custom color options, so you can create a lamp or group of lamps that perfectly match the interior decor style of your home

What we dislike

 • There is no information available on how to replace the light bulbs once they die out and need to be changed

11. Air-Shape Lamp

The Air-Shape Lamp is a conceptual lamp design that mimics the soap bubbles we take. The soap bubble is surrounded by a ring of light, and the entire body adds a multi-hued radiance to the room!

Why is it noteworthy?

Given the playful nature of the bubbles it is inspired from, each lamp will have a unique shape – allowing the glass blowers who create the piece to have creative control over the design and each one being a singularly unique design.

What we like

 • Each piece is unique and one-of-a-kind

What we dislike

 • The fragile nature of the lamp may make it difficult to handle.
